The Renaissance ticks all the boxes. Firstly, the location is excellent which is really important in SP as the city is so large. The Renaissance is located just one block back from Av Paulista in a nice neighbourhood. Within a very short (walking distance) of the hotel there are many restaurant choices. It is also a busy area within the city with people everywhere which is good as we always felt safe when walking around the hotel, including coming back from the local restaurants after dinner. It gets all of the basics right. Our room was great. I'm not sure if that is because we were upgraded due to Marriott Bonvoy status but it was a very spacious room that also had a separate bath. High floors from the hotel have a good view out over the city. The breakfast was a solid hotel breakfast. The staff were consistently polite and efficient and the Whatsapp concierge service was super convenient to use. For us, the best feature of the hotel is the gym. It is a full commercial gym that hotel guests can access. We didn't use the pool or the spa but they looked nice. I would stay here again without hesitation if I'm in Sao Paulo again.

The bedrooms were clean and very comfortable with colors that induce us to rest. The main restaurant had a daily variety of offers accompanied by great grill options.Tom(lobby),Atalaia ( restaurant ) Camila (spa),Carol (masseuse) and so many others, made me always feel important and special. The location is perfect and the staff teaches us where to walk and how to do it, being São Paulo not as safe as we would wish. It is located by the major art museum and it is a short drive to prestigious restaurants and shopping malls. One can Uber or the front staff can hail a taxi for us from the taxi stand across the street.

I love to stay at Marriott chain of hotel. This hotel seems a bit aged but location is great, walking distance to Av Paulista which is a plus on weekend. Staff at reception area are friendly. Only area to improve is probably the unavailability of drinking water for my colleagues in normal rooms! Personally feel that this is a basic need for guests.

I checked in room 409. While I was resting I was woken up by a very pungent, unpleasant sewage smell coming from the bathroom. I called the reception. They said that they would send a housekeeper. After waiting for a while, finally a lady came. She tried to clean the shower but the smell did not go away. So then I had to wait for someone from maintenance to see if he could do something about it, but he did not resolve the situation. Then I called the reception asking to change my room. They said that I had to wait because they had to see if there was an empty room. I waited and waited but nobody called me back, so I packed all my belongings and went to talk to the reception. They finally moved me to room 519. I have stayed in Marriott hotels many times. It’s my favorite hotel for work and when I go on vacation but I have never experienced such disservice. I asked to talk to the manager which however was not available at the moment but that she would call me. She never did. I wrote an email but I did not receive a reply, so I called the reception asking to talk to the manager. When she finally came to the phone she practically told me that I did not have a right to complain because they resolved the situation. If I had to change the room is something that sometimes happens. She even blamed me for waiting to get a new room because she said that I requested a room on the same floor, which is not true. Having to be in a room with a sewage odor not only is really unpleasant but is unhealthy. Having to move because of that, not being able to rest is even more unpleasant. Not being recognized for the inconvenience experienced is really frustrating and uncalled for, especially for a reputable hotel like Marriott.

Dear Guest, Thank you for sparing your valuable time to share your comments following your recent experience here at the Renaissance São Paulo Hotel. Having thoroughly reviewed your evaluation, it is evident that we fell short of delivering the complete satisfaction we aim for, and for that, I offer my sincere apologies. Service excellence stands as a cornerstone at Marriott, and I assure you that the Renaissance São Paulo is dedicated to fulfilling our guests' needs through superior quality, service, and hospitality. I truly value this opportunity to understand the specific areas of service, especially in the room you occupied, that did not meet your expectations. Your feedback has been personally shared with the relevant team members to address and rectify the service aspects that were below par. Your discerning eye for the deficiencies across our property is greatly appreciated. It's through guests like you, who generously share their experiences, that we continuously evolve and enhance our offerings. I regret deeply that we were unable to meet your expectations this time. I sincerely hope that if your plans bring you back to our city, you will consider giving us another chance. I would be honored to oversee every aspect of your reservation with special attention and dedication. Warmest regards,

The Renaissance is a great hotel in a great location! Nice, safe neighbourhood so easy to walk to nearby attractions. From the moment we arrived we were impressed by the staff who were friendly and helpful. We booked a room with club access and it was worth the extra! Our room was spacious, the bed super comfortable, and we had great city views. The lounge itself offered good facilities and an amazing breakfast! The hotel gym is a proper sports club so very well-equipped, although the pool outside needs a little renovation. We ate one night at the restaurant and thought the food and service was generally good. We wouldn't hesitate to book again!

Summary: An impersonal but well located hotel that is showing its age. The good: Location: located one block from Paulista Avenue and within walking distance of many high quality restaurants, bars and shops - this is a perfect location to base your São Paulo stay. Room: I stayed in the Maddison (Junior) Suite and was very happy with the large comfortable bed and views across the city. Service: all staff I encountered were friendly and spoke a high level of English. The front desk kindly printed a document off for me after requesting via the Bonvoy App live chat. The nightly turndown service that provided free water and chocolate was a nice touch. The bad: Room: this hotel opened in 1997 and it doesn’t look like it’s been updated much since. I was advised the hotel had a minor update in 2014, but it certainly needs further modernisation. The furnishings, carpet and technology (TV/AC) in the room are all very old. Furniture and curtains had visible stains or damage. My air conditioner was not working and I had to call maintenance on the first day. The shower is very small, has two complicated handles to turn on the water and manage the temperature and is very low pressure. You can also hear when adjoining rooms are using their water, as the pipes are noisy. Elevators: multiple elevators were out of service during my stay. The ones that were available are old, noisy with a chainlink sound and quite noticeably shake/vibrate - which is unsettling. Vibe: This hotel may be better suited for business, it is not a relaxing, quiet or romantic hotel. I had planned to meet a friend at the lobby bar, but it was so loud and despite sitting next to each other we couldn’t hear each other speaking, so decided to go somewhere else. The lobby in particular is very large, loud and overstimulating. During my stay there was a business conference at the hotel and navigating the lobby was akin to walking through Piccadilly Station in peak time. Check In/out: the staff member who checked me in was friendly enough, but she quickly ran through a large list of the hotels services that nobody could possibly remember. That information was then not available in the room or via the hotels online directory. In my opinion the hotel applies an unreasonable hold on your card BRL$1800 for “incidentals” - I didn’t use any hotel services during my stay and the money was not returned to my card until over a week after checking out. I still haven’t received a copy of my bill via email, over a month after checking out. Smoking: this is another hotel that claims to be smoke free, but unfortunately is not. Guests were permitted to smoke in the pool area, multiple staff walked past the smokers and did not say anything, so I assume it’s allowed. Amenity: pool area has limited seating and is usually full. This hotel is also the crew hotel for multiple international airlines, so large/loud groups of airline staff occupy the area and disturb other guests quiet enjoyment. The gym is open to non hotel guests and was so busy I didn’t even attempt to use it. Conclusion: I’m returning to São Paulo in the new year and will choose to stay somewhere else. This hotel didn’t wow me for the price it charges. 5 star price, for 3 star quality in my opinion.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking your precious time to complete our Guest Satisfaction Survey in connection with your recent stay here at the Renaissance São Paulo Hotel. After carefully reviewing you evaluation of our performance, it is obvious to me that we did not achieve our goal of complete customer satisfaction and for that, I am truly sorry. As you know, service is a hallmark at Marriott, and I assure you that the Renaissance São Paulo has a strong commitment to meeting our guests needs through excellence in quality, service and hospitality. I greatly appreciate having this opportunity to learn about those services and especially the room you stayed in that was less than satisfactory. I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. Immediately you feel that you made the right choice. Everyone here is 5 star caliber. We had two rooms and stayed here for the Taylor Swift concert. The Club Lounge was on par with a Ritz Carlton club lounge. Fresh made omelettes every morning, every breakfast item imaginable, specially tropical fruits! The staff was so kind and fast to attend to any need. We also stayed at the JW in Rio and this Renaissance is so much if an improvement. Pool hit tub sauna steam room and treatment areas on lower floor. Super easy to catch an Uber out front and centrally located. Room service was delivered fast and was reasonably priced and delicious. The steak sandwich on sourdough is superb! Book it and I guarantee you’ll not be disappointed. Thank you Renaissance for a wonderful stay!!

The Renaissance Sao Paulo Hotel is a classy hotel with an amazing staff. The lobby is grand, full of marble and high quality furnishings. There is a wonderful sushi restaurant just off the entrance. There is also a coffee bar that serves the best Illy coffee I have ever tasted. The coffee bar doubles as a cocktail bar so you can either get a nice espresso or martini or both at any time of the day. The front desk staff is extremely friendly and willing to make your stay memorable, offering either champagne or water or both! The rooms are a little dated but still tastefully decorated and appointed. The bed and bed linens are of luxury quality. The feather pillows are dense and of high quality. My only complaint is the annoying motion sensor that is attached to the thermostat that shuts off the air conditioning (or heat) when there is no motion senses, such as when you are in a deep sleep! You can bypass this feature to keep your temperature setting constant by holding down the down arrow and the power button until it reads, "BP". That will give you 24 hours of motion bypass. If you are a Platinum Bonvoy member or above they have a really nice club level on 23 that serves a full breakfast buffet in the morning or an amazing appetizer spread in the evening, complete with beer and wine. The evening social is almost good enough to call 'dinner', saving you an expensive restaurant bill. This hotel advertises on Google Maps as a 5 star facility. I would generally agree with that rating. That is why I will be rating this hotel as 5-stars. You really can't go wrong staying here.
