Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Hustyns Resort Cornwall presents a dichotomy of experiences, with some guests praising its tranquil location and the spaciousness of rooms, while others find fault with the resort's dated interiors and lack of air conditioning. The pool and spa facilities garner compliments for cleanliness, but the value proposition is questioned due to concerns over food quality and service disparities. While the staff's friendliness is frequently lauded, service can sometimes fall short of expectations.

Half of the facilities were not open. We were told it was due to them hosting a ball for fox hunters. Had we have known that such things go on here, we obviously would not have booked. It was rowdy, noisy and breakfast the next morning was awful as most things were unavailable. We were clearly treated differently. We will not be back and cannot recommend this place.

The lodges/houses for rent are absolutely massive (bigger than our house!). So much space. We had 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Sauna and jacuzzi bath in main bedroom. Spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds, pillows, linen, plenty of towels. Lovely enclosed garden. Outdoor area when the weather permits. Very friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful swimming pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi. Great location for walks, beaches, camel trail, etc. etc. etc. Although we had an issue with our hob and oven, they were very quick to try and fix it and offer an alternative appliance.

Bought a wowcher deal weeks ago for a friend's Birthday including DBB so we could use spa and eat without leaving the hotel as only have from 3pm to 11am following morning. 3 days before travel hotel emailed to say the restaurant was closed and I would get the £30 food element I had paid back to spend in the bar! Apparently they have known for weeks kitchen would be closed. Poor customer service, communication and understanding of inconvenience caused. To book direct was £25 cheaper than what I was being offered. Complete Shambles causing my whole day finding uitable alternative accommodation.

£15pp for a swim only. For this price you’d be expecting something special, however it was not. Your local leisure centre has equal facilities for half the price. A luke-warm jacuzzi, water fountain not in working condition. Despite being drastically overpriced for the area the staff were friendly and it was clean. Places like the point at polzeath are half the price and equally good.

My partner and I booked a nights stay at this venue as the photos looked good. I was somewhat apprehensive about booking when I enquired about the breakfast included in the price, I emailed the hotel and was replied to quickly with the news that there was no hot cooked breakfast (but at least I knew before heading down for breakfast). The cost of the room was £72 a night and the room was the best bit of the stay. It was large, clean and had a spacious bathroom. The TV and furniture, like the hotel itself was old and dated. The swimming pool facilities were ok (there are better pools around) - there must be a popular gym within the hotel as a lot of the visitors seemed to be large weight lifters, not quite the relaxing atmosphere we were looking for. We slept fabulously and the bed was super comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was embarrassing and we left before having any, there was budget priced sliced white and brown bread and a roster, some unappetising fruit, some pain au chocolate in plastic wrapper, some cheap looking tea cakes and filter coffee. There was also some orange and apple juice. My partner decided we would be better off heading in to Wadebridge for a nice breakfast which we did. On the way out, I asked reception which is now down stairs by the leisure facilities if I could grab a coffee from the coffee machine, once I had made a latte and an Americano they try to charge me for them. After a fairly disappointing stay and a terrible breakfast experience I would have thought two machine made coffees would be included, I politely left the coffees. If you need a room for a night I would definitely recommend here, big rooms, clean and super comfortable bed. However, if you want to relax and enjoy a good breakfast in the morning this isn’t the right place for you.

We decided to stay in the UK this year & visit the South West, this place looked great even though we'd read some negative reviews. Even before we'd arrived we received an email telling us that there were staff shortages & things might not be as we anticipated, not a great start! We followed the advice on the website & set navigation to Wadebridge, glad we did, such narrow roads even from there. Upon arrival it's not obvious that there's an in & an out, there was a van coming up the in to meet us, better signage needed. We were greeted at reception & given the room we'd read about, 301! The furniture & condition of the balcony looked the same as photos going back to 2019, broken & dirty! The room itself was OK, tired furniture & the door to the balcony was the only ventilation plus it was rotten. The bathroom was nice, separate bath & shower, the door to this didn't close properly so water all over the floor. There's also a toilet in the entrance hall to the suite, which isn't advertised, along with a large built in wardrobe. We asked to be moved because of the door, balcony & smoke from the burner which had it's chimney right outside the room, but were told there weren't any more Junior Suites available, nothing was offered by way of apology or compensation. The bed was awful, got to be the most uncomfortable bed we've ever slept in & it was a small double, we thought that was odd given we'd booked a suite & only realised on our return home that it should have been a KING! The whole complex is tired & in desperate need of a refurb, the grounds are very overgrown & there appears to be no upkeep, it's a shame as this place has loads of potential, there's even a building at the back which could be used as a shop given that the nearest is about 4 miles away. We ate in the restaurant, the food was OK but it wasn't a great experience, we waited an age to be served then asked for Prosecco & it took them about half an hour to come back & tell us they didn't have any, it was a Saturday! Our dishes got changed from the menu too without anyone asking or telling us about this. The restaurant wasn't at all busy so there's no excuse, the staff were not properly trained & really didn't have a clue. The menu didn't change for a whole week so I suggest you don't book for dinner in your package! The Spa is also tired, showers not working, smell of damp everywhere with rotting wood. It's a shame because we enjoyed our massages with the Elemis ladies. Our bill was wrong at check-out, we'd obviously been given someone else's bill, good job I checked it, again no apology with reception needing to call someone to deal with it, again not trained. Overall not great & wouldn't stay again.

We booked a Superior King Room for two nights with bed and breakfast on September 24-26 for our first wedding anniversary via Groupon. Before arrival, we received an email stating that there would be no hot food served at breakfast on Monday morning and that we would be credited £10 to our room. Upon arrival, we were informed that the continental breakfast would be for both days of our stay, not just Monday. We felt that £10 compensation was not enough. When we went to our room, we were disappointed to find that it was just a standard room. We went back to reception to point this out to the receptionist and showed her our booking details, which clearly stated that we had booked a Superior King Room. The receptionist was not helpful at all. She informed us that it was Groupon that had booked the room as a king-size room and that there were superior king rooms available, but it wasn't Hustyns' problem, it was Groupon's. As you can imagine, this was very upsetting for us on our first wedding anniversary. The food that was presented for breakfast was also underwhelming, so much so that it put us off booking a table for an evening meal. Overall, we had a terrible time. I will be posting this review online so that other people don't have to go through the same upsetting experience.
