This is our second visit to Il Chiostro di Pienza and likely not our last. The people here are fantastic and the building puts you in the middle of the beauty of activity of Tuscany while providing an escape from the busy times if you want it.

We paid 272€ for one night in a Deluxe room. 1) there was a LOUD 100+ person wedding party below our room window that continued until 1AM. When we asked to move, no help. 2) the A/C was not working so we could not drown out the noise. 3) the room was 1970’s decor and completely NOT Deluxe. 4) we were treated rudely by the head waiter on the terrace when we walked out to see the pool. Quote: “you’re in the middle of our dining room”. Seriously. And then later when we walked through to enter the hotel the same man treated us as intruders - we were hotel guests. 5) the night of the wedding and the morning after we politely told reception what happened and there was no apology or opportunity to reduce our 272€ charge. Terrible customer service and terrible stay.

Authentic Italian hotel set in the cloisters of the church next door. Incredible iconic views from the room and the gardens where the breakfast tables are set. The location is central to everything and conducive to walks after dinner when the crowds have left. Rooms are spacious.

Bed sheets were full of MOTHS! When have asked to change my room I was told the hotel was fully booked and I do not have other choice than to sleep in this dirty room! The only choice was to give us new bed sheets. However when my Italian friend started to speak with him Italian he directly managed to find us another small room however we have paid for a bigger one. They are trying to take advantage from foreigners visitors. Pay attention!

We booked a superior room but the first one we got was definitely not the room we booked. We immediately informed reception that it was not acceptable. The second was also small and without a sitting area. The third room we were shown was good and spacious. There was a large bathroom. Airconditioning worked great. The Wifi was not good, very slow. Probably due to thick walls inside the property. Breakfast with a view was lovely and we used the pool a couple of times which was nice. Free parking was available around the center, 5 to 10 minutes walk. The hotel is close to the town walls.

A beautifully situated hotel in a former cloister. Those rooms which face out over the terrace have awe inspiring views over the Val d’Orcia The terrace provides a wonderful place to enjoy breakfast and the pool area is calm and relaxing. The rooms vary widely, I had a very comfortable and spacious room with a magnificent view, a couch, a couple of chairs and a frescoed ceiling, Some other rooms I saw were less desirable. On the down side, the bathroom was cramped, the air conditioning balky and the wifi mostly unusable (which was a significant inconvenience). They claim to have problems with iPhones. The location is outstanding, the staff welcoming and I could happily spend an entire day watching the changing light pass over the valley from the terrace.

Pienza is a magical Tuscan hilltop town, and I’ll Chiostro is a jewel of an accommodation. This former monastery is in a beautiful setting, with a staff that was eager to place. The valley views from our room and the outside area were stunning to say the least. The pool looked lovely, even though we were too busy to use it. Pienza is definitely worth visiting, and there are a selection of small osterias and restaurants to choose from. EAT THE PECORINO CHEESE made here. We had a courtyard picnic one evening with a bottle of Brunello and bread and cheese.

Generally speaking it is a pity that a property like this is losing value because it is not properly managed. 1. The room was dirty and we had to ask to have the sheets changed and one towel was stained. 2. The elevator works randomly to say the least. In the evening it did not work at all and we had to take the stairs to 3rd level. 3. There is no WIFI. Each time we had to log onto a hot spot. It is impossible to have both the laptop and a phone on. The response is very slow or not at all. Do not use any on line bank account. Very dangerous. 4. Breakfast is impossible to eat. First you have to wait for over 20 minutes and eventually you will get reheated scrambled eggs(most probably in the microwave??? unacceptable). 5. The restaurant service is another lack of service. Long wait and even more long wait between services. Have to ask several times for oil??? Pitty, pitty... for a UNESCO heritage site

An outrageous location with rooms from the old times, excellent atmosphere and the garden which you won’t even dream about. The view from the garden, the swimming pool and the restaurant is breathtaking. The food of the restaurant is in its own class. We stayed there was 23 people with motorbikes. Parking was outside the pedestrian soon. But Still easy to access the hotel my feet. You feel like being in a different world. I fully recommend this hotel I will
