We started our visit by choosing from hundreds of different crisply ironed kimonos to be worn throughout the visit. We took our kimonos to the onsen. All of the amenities are provided for a refreshing wash and soak in any of their famous outdoor and indoor mineral water pools. Carefully tying the kimono sash added such ambiance. My favourite feature was the food. It helped me to understand Japanese people. They are passionate about food and the wonderful Chef chooses the best possible ingredients and methods to provide a high food experience. Abalone, raw salmon, tuna, matsutake mushroom steamed to make a smoky flavoured broth, the tenderest steak ever tasted....all served in small nicely spaced courses. The best complete Japanese experience imaginable provided with such attentive courtesy.

As usual, Japanese are very friendly and helpful. Even though they know you do not understand Japanese, they would still keep on explaining to you in Japanese or in their very limited English. This hotel do have a Chinese staff. This help a lot. The Spa is comfortable and my wife and I enjoy soaking in our in-room outdoor bath tub. It is cold outside and the Spa water is warm. It feels wonderful. We take breakfast and dinner option in our stay. Breakfast is fine and we like it many much. However, the dinner is just kind of ok. The atmosphere and setting are very good. Considering the price paid and the food. I would consider it is only satisfactory.

We enjoyed our stay here. The onsen areas are fantastic and the food is superb. They even cater for vegetarians with "shojin ryori" (see photos) which was just outstanding. One of the best vegetarian meals I've had in Japan. The staff here are extremely friendly and accommodating. They tried to speak English even though I speak Japanese so I think foreign visitors can stay here with the comfort of knowing the staff can use English. I can't give it the full five star rating however as the thin walls were a bit of an issue. I usually sleep very soundly but I didn't have the best night's sleep waking up to the sound of doors sliding and closing. The rooms, while very nice and comfortable, are probably due for a renewal too as they're just starting to show their age. That said, we really enjoyed our stay and I think we'll be back to stay.
