Stopped in for dinner before going to the Apollo Theater. Food was very tasty with friendly service. I do recommend the vegetable plate with cornbread.

Great experience made even better by Front of House, Tasha. A great Ambassador for the restaurant. Will definitely return.
Fire chick and waffle is 2nd to none. Make sure you ask for dark meat. But the food was amazing and the staff was kind, fast and welcoming. Has a real southern feel
Come in with an empty stomach and be prepared to leave stuffed as a tick. The portions would challenged the hardiest appetite. Yummmmy for your tummy. Big ups to Tasha.
Our family of 12 visited today. Service was cheerful and competent . A good start! Most of the food, though, was just meh. Pork chops thin, and slightly overcooked. Ribs were quite good, as was the whiting and catfish. The shrimp n grits was disappointing...as was the pork chops. (Sautéed shrimp also bland) most disappointing was the takeout sweet potato pie, way overdone. Consider also the low-rent restrooms, and it finishes as mediocre, and not worthy of the reputation. Not gonna return.More
Cornbread has strange texture. Fried fish tasted like it was frozen. Black eye peas were bland. Green beans were decent. Half and Half was good. My friend's potato salad looked like mashed potato salad. Collard greens tasted like canned greens
On Xmas I ordered The Honorable Bill Perkins which is pan seared salmon….. DISGUSTING and DRY. The James Ford which is sautéed or fried jumbo shrimp I ordered fried but the decided the give sautéed HORRIBLE. To add insult to injury they demanded the you...give 18% gratuity my order was supposed to be 53.90 but with gratuity was $70 that I decided to pay… when I get home very hungry I see this garbage of dinner amy Ruth’s should be ashamed to allow meals like this to leave the restaurant…. Staff decided it was ok because it was takeout SMH NEVER AGAINMore
A very nice restaurant to come to with a smiling welcome. We were hungry after a walk in the park, and it was perfect with ice cold water and soft and delicious cornbread while we waited for the food that we ordered. We both ate...chicken and waffles, and it was incredibly good. The chicken had crispy skin and juicy meat, but the star of the meal was the waffle. So soft and tasty! The best waffle I have ever eaten! Recommended!More
Great service and amazing food. We had the chicken and waffles and the BBQ ribs and chicken - both were cooked to perfection. Can’t fault anything and highly recommend!
This is just one of my fav restaurants. Service is always amazing, food is always knock-out of the park good, and the value for plate size is great. I took an international friend here & they made me take them back x2 because they liked...it so much!More
My husband and I have never been to this restaurant before and our daughter and son-in-law recommended it. Since it is still COVID 19 era, we dined alone and they took their food back to their home. The cornbread was exceptional! Moist and delicious! After...that, I was not happy, but my husband was! He ordered the fried chicken with collard greens and potato salad, which he loved. Said that the chicken was absolutely delicious... Skin was crisp and amazing! I had the fisherman's platter; fried shrimp, catfish, and crab cake with string beans and macaroni and cheese. The shrimp were delicious! The catfish was overdone and dry. The crab cake was crispy on the outside and mush on the inside. The macaroni and cheese was dry. The string beans were fine, nothing to rave about. So basically, for my entire meal, I enjoyed my three fried shrimp and my string beans. For the prices we paid, that is terrible! We will not be going back there.More
On a trip to NYC we popped over to Harlem to try some local soul food. We were not disappointed and the food was just what we'd hoped for. The smothered chicken & waffles was great, as was the mac and cheese and honey chicken....Friendly and prompt service to two obvious tourists!More
Reviews are a bit of hit-and-miss, it seems, but for us at lunchtime, all was well. Tables quite socially distanced, and some nice murals but mostly a diner-like atmosphere but come here for the food (especially the chicken -- better than the next evening at...the Red Rooster). Good portions and good service.More
I am a frequent flyer to this restaurant…even through the pandemic, I supported it. I bought 3 dinners tonight and was unhappy with all of them. The fried chicken was some of the best in Harlem…but tonight it was dry and overcooked…the catfish had no...flavor, the greens tasted frozen, the candied yams and green beans were not done, the beans and rice was tasteless. I hope this was just a bad day…More
The food was amazing. It was hot and fresh. The complimentary corn bread with the smooth butter was nice to have while we waited for the main course. It’s conveniently located a half a block from the subway. Clean restaurant.
